TiViMate: The Guide That Finds a Fixture in Seconds

Doing it, one step at a time

1. Install TiViMate

   Android TV and Google TV have it in the Play Store. On a Firestick it has to be sideloaded with Downloader. For Apple, Samsung or LG hardware there is no version at all, so run IPTV Smarters on those and keep TiViMate for the Android devices.

   Get login details first

2. Add the playlist

   Open the app and take Add playlist, then Xtream Codes login. The server address, username and password go in from your activation message, then Next. No M3U link is requested and none is required, which reliably confuses anybody arriving from a player that wanted one.

3. Name it and let it load

   Give the playlist a name you will recognise if you add a second, then let the channels and guide download. It asks which categories to include; that is changeable later, so do not agonise, though switching off what you will never watch makes the first Saturday much calmer.

4. Set the guide up properly

   Settings, then TV guide, then a refresh interval of every 12 hours. Because the guide source rides along with the Xtream login, there is no separate EPG address to hunt down, which several other players do demand. Set the time zone in the same screen so kick-off times read correctly.

5. Sort the list before the weekend

   Under Settings, Playlists, choose your own sort order and hide the categories you never open. On a line-up this size that is the difference between reaching a fixture in three button presses and scrolling through a wall of channels while the whistle goes.

6. Decide about Premium

   This is the part almost everybody gets stuck on: Premium is not sold inside TiViMate on the television. It is bought in the separate TiViMate Companion app on a phone. The price is around $9.99 a year, or a one-off lifetime licence in the mid-thirties, with a seven-day trial first. Recording, multi-view and multiple playlists are what it buys.

7. Set multi-view up before you need it

   If two fixtures overlap and you have Premium, arrange the layout in advance. Doing it while both matches are already running means fumbling through menus with one eye on each, and people invariably miss a goal. Five minutes on a Friday is the whole trick.

When it goes wrong, and why

"Playlist could not be loaded"

Check the server address carries its port and that the plan is still active. Then retype the password by hand rather than pasting, because text copied out of a chat frequently brings an invisible space along and the error will never tell you so.

The guide says "no information"

Force a refresh from Settings, TV guide, Update now, then restart the app. A first load across a list this large can simply need longer than people are willing to give it, so try again after ten minutes before reporting a fault.

Recording stops partway through a match

Recording is a Premium feature writing to local storage, and a Firestick has very little. Point the recording path at a USB drive or network share in the settings, or expect a full ninety minutes to run the device out of space.

Channels are in a nonsensical order

TiViMate sorts by the order the provider sends unless told otherwise. Under Settings, Playlists, set your own sort and hide what you never open. On a list this size that is the single change that makes the app pleasant.

It broke mid-match: what to try, in order

Re-enter the channel. Then use the decoder toggle, which TiViMate exposes per channel rather than globally, so you can leave everything else alone. Then take the HD copy. Then restart the app. TiViMate also keeps a stream information overlay, and if it shows the bitrate collapsing rather than the connection dropping, the problem is upstream and support should be told which channel; if it shows nothing arriving at all, the problem is your line.
