Doing it, one step at a time
Search the Roku Channel Store first
From Home, open Streaming Channels or the search field, and look for IPTV Smarters Player or IPTV Player. Add whichever appears. What is stocked differs by country and changes without warning, so check on the device rather than trusting a forum post from last year.
Sign in with Xtream Codes
Open the channel, choose the Xtream Codes option, and enter your username, password and server address. The three values are the same ones every other device uses.
If that fails, mirror from a phone or laptop
Enable Screen mirroring under Roku Settings, then System. On Android use Cast or Smart View; on Windows press Win+K. Play the stream on that device and it appears on the Roku. Enable Do Not Disturb first, or the whole room reads your messages during the match.
Consider a stick instead
If sport on that television is the point, a Fire TV Stick at $30 to $50 removes every one of these limitations at once. Plug it into a spare HDMI port and leave the Roku to the apps it does well. That is the advice we would give a friend, so it is the advice here.
Test the login somewhere else first
Before blaming the Roku, sign in on a phone. If the fixture plays there and not here, the Roku channel is the problem rather than the account, and no amount of reinstalling will change that. It is a thirty-second test that saves an argument with support.
If you are mirroring, silence the phone first
Mirroring puts everything on the phone screen onto the television, including every message that arrives. Turn on Do Not Disturb before kick-off, or the room reads your notifications all afternoon.
Have a fallback ready before the weekend
Because the Roku route is the least dependable here, decide in advance what you will do if the channel is gone or refuses to play: mirroring from a phone, or another device entirely. Working that out at three o'clock on a Saturday, with a match starting, is not the moment.
When it goes wrong, and why
The IPTV channel vanished from the store
Roku periodically removes these listings, which is exactly why we will not promise any particular one will be there when you look. Your account is unaffected: fall back to mirroring, or move that television onto a stick.
Mirroring stutters even though the stream is fine
Mirroring re-encodes on the phone and sends it over Wi-Fi twice, so it is far more fragile than a direct stream and fails first under load, which on a match day means exactly when you need it. Move both devices nearer the router, or accept it as a stopgap.
The Roku channel signs in but nothing plays
Roku players are often rebuilt by third parties and go stale against current server settings. If the login is accepted and no stream starts, the channel is the problem rather than the account. Test the same credentials on a phone to confirm, then mirror or move to a stick.
Mirroring shows the picture but no sound
Some Android handsets mirror video while keeping audio on the phone. Check the output device in the phone sound settings and switch it to the Roku. On Windows the Win+K panel has a separate audio toggle that defaults to off on some machines.
It broke mid-match: what to try, in order
Your options are narrower here, which is the honest summary of this platform. Re-enter the channel. Then take the HD copy. Then close the channel entirely and reopen it. Then restart the Roku from Settings, System, Power. If you are mirroring, restart the mirroring session rather than the Roku, because the phone is nearly always the weak point. When none of that works, open the browser player on a laptop and finish the match there while you sort the Roku out afterwards; it is a better use of the second half than troubleshooting.

Questions about Roku
Can you get IPTV on Roku at all?
Up to a point, and it is better to be blunt than to sell you something. Sideloading is impossible and the available players come and go, which makes it the least dependable platform for this. Mirroring is the constant fallback. If the decision is still open, buy something else.
Why does my friend have the app and I do not?
Because Roku curates its store by country. Mirroring is unaffected by region and works everywhere, which is why it stays in this guide despite being the worse experience.
Should I buy a Roku if sport is the point?
No. Buy a Fire TV Stick or an Android box. Roku is good hardware for the mainstream streaming apps and a poor choice for this, and no configuration changes that. If you already own one, the methods above work; if you are choosing now, choose differently.
Will Roku ever be a good option for this?
Only if Roku changes its policy on sideloading, which it has shown no sign of doing. Everything here is a workaround for that one restriction. If sport on that television matters to you, treat the $40 stick as part of the subscription cost and stop fighting it.
Is there any sign this will improve?
Not really, and it would be misleading to suggest otherwise. Roku's position on sideloading has been consistent for years and its store curation is deliberate rather than accidental, so the players that appear tend to be small independent efforts that come and go. Nothing about that is likely to change because of demand from this corner of the market. Treat the platform as fixed: if you already own a Roku, the two methods in this guide work and mirroring in particular will always work. If you are buying hardware for sport, spend the $40 elsewhere and stop fighting the restriction. Nothing in this guide is a criticism of Roku as a product; it is simply the wrong product for this particular job, and knowing that before you buy saves an afternoon and a good deal of irritation.
