Doing it, one step at a time
Check the model year before anything else
Press Menu, then Support, then About This TV. Anything from 2016 onward runs the current Tizen store and will take these apps. Older sets can still be used, but only with a stick in an HDMI port, so establish this first rather than after twenty minutes of searching a store that will never list them.
Open the Samsung App Store
Press Home and open Apps. The search icon sits in the upper corner of that screen. If the store asks you to sign in, use your own Samsung account rather than whatever happens to be on the set already.
Install IPTV Smarters or Smart IPTV
IPTV Smarters costs nothing. Smart IPTV asks a small one-off fee for that television but is noticeably lighter, which tells on older panels that labour under anything heavier. Install whichever suits the set and open it once.
Give it your account
With Smarters, choose Login with Xtream Codes and enter the three values. Smart IPTV works quite differently and this surprises everybody: it has no login screen. Note the MAC address the app displays, then go to siptv.app/mylist on a phone or laptop and send your M3U link to that MAC.
Restart the app properly
Close it fully rather than backing out, then reopen. The channel list and guide load. The channel list button on the remote is much the fastest way through the groups once you are in, and worth learning before a fixture rather than during one.
Turn off the processing that ruins live sport
Samsung ships with motion smoothing on, which makes football look like a soap opera. Under Picture, Expert Settings, set Auto Motion Plus to off and Picture Mode to Standard or Movie. This has nothing to do with IPTV, and it is the single commonest reason people think a stream looks wrong.
Give the set a proper restart before a big fixture
Tizen holds very little memory free, and a television left on standby for weeks will be slower than one restarted. Unplug it at the wall for thirty seconds rather than using the remote, which does not clear memory. Two minutes on a Saturday morning saves a stutter at three.
Settle the set before a big fixture
Open the player during the build-up rather than at kick-off. On Tizen the first channel load is the slowest thing the app does, and doing it while the whistle goes is how people end up watching the second minute. Leave it running on the channel and the buffer does the rest.
When it goes wrong, and why
The app is not in my store
Samsung varies its catalogue by region. Either change the region in Settings, or use IPTV Smarters, which is stocked in nearly every market. If neither works, support can name a player available where you are.
Smart IPTV says "playlist expired"
That message concerns the app, not your subscription, and the two are unrelated. Reinstalling the app or factory-resetting the set wipes the stored list, so upload the M3U again at siptv.app/mylist against the same MAC address and it returns.
Sound plays but the picture is black on some channels
That is a codec the panel cannot decode rather than a dead channel. Take the HD or SD copy of the same channel, which sits beside it in the list. On a set of that age it is the practical fix; no setting will make it decode a format it lacks.
The app installs but closes immediately
Tizen is out of memory. Close everything else, then pull the plug for thirty seconds. If it recurs weekly, that panel is happier with Smart IPTV than with Smarters, which is heavier.
It broke mid-match: what to try, in order
Re-enter the channel first. Then take the HD or SD copy, which on an older Tizen panel is frequently the real answer rather than a compromise, because the set struggles with high bitrates long before your connection does. Then close the app fully and reopen. Then unplug the television at the wall for thirty seconds, which clears memory in a way standby does not. If the same channel fails repeatedly while others hold, tell support which one: they can usually point you at a parallel feed carrying the identical fixture.

Questions about Samsung Smart TV
Do I need a Firestick as well?
Not at all. Any Samsung from 2016 onward runs IPTV Smarters or Smart IPTV straight from the built-in store, leaving the television as the only device involved. A stick earns its place on older sets, or where you specifically want TiViMate, which Samsung has never carried.
Is Smart IPTV free on Samsung?
Seven days come free, after which it asks a small one-time activation covering that television alone. IPTV Smarters carries no such charge. Either way the app is only a shell and shows nothing until a subscription is entered into it.
Can I use this on a rented or hotel television?
On a set you control, yes, and nothing you install leaves a trace beyond the app itself, which uninstalls cleanly. Hotel televisions are usually locked down and will not allow it; a stick in the HDMI port is the answer there, assuming the port is reachable.
Why is my Samsung slower than my phone?
Because the phone has a faster processor and more free memory than a television built to a price several years ago. It is not the account. Hiding unused categories and restarting the set before the weekend both help more than anything else available to you.
Should I add a stick to an older Samsung anyway?
If sport is what that television is for, probably yes. A 2016 or 2017 panel will run these players, but it redraws a long list slowly and struggles with high bitrates, which is felt exactly when a fixture is starting and least welcome. A Fire TV Stick at $30 to $50 gives you TiViMate, a faster guide and proper 4K decoding for less than three months of subscription. On a spare bedroom set, leave the television to do it alone; on the one the household actually watches, the stick is the better spend by a wide margin.
