Copy the link carefully
You will find it in the activation message, shaped like http://server:port/get.php with your username and password hanging off the end as parameters. Treat it exactly as a password, because whoever holds that address holds your subscription. Resist pasting it into a group chat, however helpful the impulse feels.
Paste it into the player
VLC wants Media, then Open Network Stream. Smart IPTV takes it at siptv.app/mylist. Kodi needs the IPTV Simple Client and its M3U URL field. TiViMate and Smarters both accept one under "M3U playlist", though in those two the Xtream login serves you distinctly better.
Add the guide separately if asked
Some players want the schedule supplied on its own. It is the same server address ending in xmltv.php with your credentials attached, and support will send it on request. Players that need this generally also need telling how often to refresh it.
Ask for a filtered list if the set is slow
The full playlist carries every category, and simpler players parse the lot before showing anything at all. Support can build one narrowed to the sports tiers plus whatever else you watch, which loads in a fraction of the time on modest television hardware.
Keep the Xtream login as your main route
Use the M3U only where a player leaves you no choice. It carries no schedule data of its own, and going without a guide on a line-up this size is genuinely painful once a weekend of fixtures starts. Where both are offered, the Xtream login is the better tool every time.
When it goes wrong, and why
The list takes forever to load
There are thousands of entries in that file and simpler players parse every one before displaying anything. Either move to a player that understands categories, such as TiViMate or Smarters, or ask support for the filtered version.
Channel numbers move around between sessions
Playlists carry the order the server sends, and that order changes as channels are added upstream. If you navigate by number rather than by favourites, this will keep happening. Building a favourites list inside the player insulates you from it completely.
The link works in VLC but not on the television
Television players are far less tolerant of very large playlists than a desktop application. Ask for the filtered version, or use the Xtream login if the app supports it. The account is healthy in both cases; only the delivery changes.
Half the channels are missing
A filtered M3U carries only the categories it was built for. If you asked for a sports-only list and now want the film channels as well, ask support to rebuild it. Nothing is wrong with the account; the list is simply narrower than the subscription.
The playlist breaks mid-match
Because an M3U is a snapshot rather than a live connection, the first thing to try is re-adding the same link, which pulls a fresh copy. Then take the HD copy of the channel. Then, if the player supports it, switch to the Xtream login instead, which reconnects rather than re-parsing and is markedly more robust under load. That last step is the real fix, and a weekend of dropped fixtures is usually what persuades people to take it.

Questions about M3U playlist
Why do free M3U lists stop working?
They are scraped feeds republished for anyone who wants them, so thousands of viewers arrive at one source at the same moment, and that moment is almost always a kick-off. The host blocks them or simply buckles, and days rather than weeks is the usual lifespan. A paid playlist answers to your account alone.
Is the M3U link the same as my Xtream login?
The same account wrapped differently. The M3U address contains your username and password inside it as parameters, which is precisely why it should be treated as a secret. Anyone with that address has your subscription until it is reissued.
Can I open it in Kodi?
Yes, through the IPTV Simple Client add-on, which has an M3U URL field and a separate one for the guide. Kodi is powerful and fiddly in equal measure; unless you already run it, a dedicated player will get you watching considerably faster.
Does the link change when I renew?
No. Renewing extends the same account, so the address, username and password all stay as they were. If a link stops working just after a renewal, the renewal has not been applied yet rather than the address having changed, and support can confirm that in a moment.
Can I give the link to a friend?
You can, and you should understand what it means: they are using your subscription and your stream limit, so on a busy Saturday one of you will be locked out. If two households want it, the multi-screen plans cost less than the argument.
Why does the M3U feel slower than the app?
Because the player is parsing a very large text file every time it loads, where the Xtream login fetches only what it needs. On a fast device the difference is a few seconds; on a television it can be a minute, which is a minute you do not have at kick-off.
Should I use the M3U at all if the Xtream login exists?
Only where a player leaves you no choice, which in practice means VLC, Kodi, Smart IPTV and a handful of older television apps. The Xtream login is better in every respect that matters: it reconnects rather than re-parsing, it carries the schedule data with it, and it recovers from a dropped connection far more gracefully, which is precisely the behaviour you want when a fixture is running. Keep the M3U link somewhere safe as a fallback and for the players that demand it, and use the three-value login everywhere else. The one genuine exception is a very old television app that offers nothing but an M3U field, and in that case ask support for the filtered list rather than the full one, because the difference in load time on that hardware is substantial.
